It's not just fashion, it's a lifestyle.
I have a passion for thrifting for a few reasons. It's a guaranteed unique style. It's so much more affordable than fast fashion. Lastly, but not the least it is so much better for the environment than fast fashion.
I started Penguin Thrift on the 25'th of May 2017. I first sourced items for other businesses, but later on, opened my business to the public. Penguin Thrift is a one-woman business.
My mission with Penguin Thrift is to bring you carefully curated items at a good price.
Why Thrifting
Sustainability
There are so many good reasons to thrift. The top four reasons would be. Sustainability. We reduce so much waste by choosing slow fashion (thrifting) over fast fashion (buying new clothes at shops).
Affordability- Just to give you an idea of how affordable thrifting is. I recently bought a genuine leather jacket for R350, whereas a new blouse at certain stores will cost about R350. Need I say more?
Quality
Most items you bought already stood the test of time, They have been washed many times and most of the items still look good. You also get higher quality fabrics like wool blends or pure wool, silk, linen, and even cashmere.
Unique
Thrifting usually means that there aren't a lot of the items left in the world, meaning that the chances of someone having the same dress as you are slim to none. No more worrying about wearing the same dress to a wedding or year-end function. You'll be the only one wearing that dress guaranteed.
